Rappahannock United Way Day of Action September 23, 2016
On Friday, September 23rd, two teams from UMW participated in the Rappahannock United Way Day of Action to serve the Fredericksburg community. The Day of Action is a day where community members can participate in a myriad of community service projects to assist in a variety of ways to ease some of the troubles that plague our community. This year, about 300 participants from various companies and organizations in the surrounding area participated in the Rappahannock United Way Day of Action. Projects that were available included putting together meals, helping local schools and construction of an access ramp.
UMW served on two different projects: one team went to Rocky Run Elementary School to hang motivational posters and positive quotes along the walls; the second team worked with Hildrup to remove and then recreate a porch with an attached 30ft handicap accessible ramp. The team worked hard and came close to finishing what would normally be a 2-3 day project.
Thank you to the UMW employees who worked together to serve the community on this day: Christina Eggenberger, Colin Coleman, Sarah Carroll, Michelle Pickham, John Hughey, Caitlin McCabe, Noura Allen, David Fleming, Andrea Cordray, Evelyn Torres Molina, Ali Hieber, and Sue Lafayette.
